Our Mission: Working with others to use land conservation tools to preserve Kauai’s places of the heart.

KPLT seeks solutions for land conservation by

  • Acquiring land through donations and purchases for the benefit of the public.
  • Securing conservation easements on land and monitoring the terms of the easements.
  • Working in partnership with private and governmental conservation agencies.

KPLT is a tax-exempt corporation under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. KPLT has adopted the Standards and Practices of the Land Trust Alliance. This requires land trusts to operate ethically and legally in the public interest. KPLT also partners with the Trust for Public Land and other land trusts to promote the importance of land trusts and public lands.

Our Values:

Open space and natural beauty are the heart of Kaua'i's quality of life and rural lifestyle. Caring for the 'aina, especially Kaua'i's special places, protects our agricultural, historical, cultural, recreational, and natural resources and provides spiritual renewal.

Ohana and community are at the heart of KPLT's work. We work with our families and community to achieve our goals.

The future guides our work. Mindful of the past, we plan and act now for future generations
