On April 22nd people around the world will celebrate Earth Day.
Started in 1970, Earth Day is a global celebration that seeks to
raise awareness about the environment and our impact on it. Each
year millions of people participate in the event as a means of
promoting sustainable solutions and educating their community.
Here on Kaua`i, the Kaua`i
Public Land Trust (KPLT) is celebrating Earth Day 2009 with our
first annual “Buy Back Kaua`i”
event. We are asking residents and visitors on April 22nd to eat and
shop at locally owned businesses that sign-on to our campaign.
Participating vendors are asked to donate a percentage of proceeds
earned that day to KPLT. In return KPLT will vigorously promote each
business to our friends and supporters, prominently display their
information on our website, list them on all campaign related
materials and feature them in the KPLT newsletter distributed to
over 2000 homes.
